Salesforce Launches MuleSoft Agent Fabric to Tackle Rising AI Agent Sprawl

As enterprises rapidly embrace artificial intelligence, a new challenge is emerging: agent sprawl. Organizations are deploying a growing number of AI agents across teams, platforms, and vendors—each designed to automate tasks, enhance workflows, or improve decision-making.

But without centralized management, this explosion of agents can lead to fragmentation, security gaps, and governance blind spots.

To address this rising complexity, Salesforce has introduced MuleSoft Agent Fabric, a unified platform designed to turn fragmented AI agents into a secure, intelligent, and coordinated network.

The solution provides a single control plane for registering, orchestrating, governing, and monitoring agents—regardless of where or how they were built.

Drawing a parallel to an air traffic controller managing planes from different airlines, Salesforce says MuleSoft Agent Fabric acts as the backbone for enterprise AI, ensuring disparate agents collaborate effectively and safely within shared digital environments.

For instance, a global retailer might rely on multiple agents—one managing inventory, another adjusting pricing, and a third monitoring fraud.

With MuleSoft Agent Fabric, these agents no longer operate in isolation. Instead, they can work together seamlessly: when inventory levels drop, pricing updates automatically, while fraud detection continues in real time under strict governance and data security controls.

Industry forecasts suggest AI agent adoption will surge 327% within two years, with nearly 40% of enterprise applications expected to embed agents in the next 12 months. However, most of these agents are currently siloed, lacking the orchestration and compliance capabilities needed for enterprise-wide collaboration.

MuleSoft Agent Fabric aims to fill this gap by providing the infrastructure for secure, scalable, and intelligent orchestration across ecosystems. The platform enables organizations to progress toward becoming Agentic Enterprises, where humans and AI agents operate in tandem under unified governance.

With more than a decade of experience connecting applications, data, and processes across complex IT environments, MuleSoft is uniquely positioned to extend its proven integration and governance expertise to AI agents.

In combination with Salesforce’s Agentforce, which provides tools to build and deploy autonomous AI agents, MuleSoft Agent Fabric ensures interoperability even with third-party agents outside the Agentforce ecosystem—bringing order, trust, and scalability to the next era of enterprise AI.
