Pinterest Signs $4B AWS Deal to Scale AI Infrastructure

Pinterest has signed a $4 billion cloud services agreement with Amazon Web Services, extending its long-term infrastructure partnership through 2031.

The deal is the largest infrastructure commitment in Pinterest’s history and is aimed at supporting the company’s artificial intelligence roadmap. AWS will provide Pinterest with access to Amazon’s custom chips, including Graviton and Trainium, to help train and run AI models at scale.

Focus on AI Search and Discovery

Pinterest said the expanded AWS partnership will improve compute flexibility, infrastructure efficiency and hardware options as it grows AI-powered features across the platform.

The company plans to use AWS Trainium for large language models and vision-language models that support personalized visual search, product discovery and AI-assisted recommendations.

Pinterest has worked with AWS since 2010 to support the reliability and performance of its core services. The new agreement deepens that relationship as Pinterest invests more heavily in AI tools and advertising products, including upgrades to its Performance+ ad suite.

The announcement comes as Pinterest looks to strengthen growth amid competition from TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. The company recently forecast second-quarter revenue above Wall Street expectations.

Following the announcement, Pinterest shares rose nearly 6%, while Amazon shares gained about 1.5%.
