Gentrack Acquires Factor to Expand Energy Pricing Capabilities

Gentrack has acquired Prospero Energy Limited, trading as Factor, to strengthen its energy pricing capabilities and expand its position in B2B energy retail.

The acquisition, completed on May 15, 2026, will see Factor integrated into Gentrack’s utilities business and its g2 energy retail platform. Factor is a New Zealand-founded SaaS company focused on on-demand energy pricing for suppliers operating in volatile energy markets.

Focus on Real-Time Pricing

Factor’s platform uses machine learning to help energy suppliers price and manage commercial electricity contracts at scale. Its technology is designed to support margin control, risk management, and faster product launches as energy markets become more complex due to renewables, distributed generation, and flexible pricing needs.

The deal values Factor at NZ$24 million, with a potential NZ$10 million earn-out tied to annual recurring revenue growth over the next three years. Gentrack said the acquisition will have limited revenue impact in FY26 but is expected to be EPS accretive in FY28.

Gentrack plans to retain the Factor brand for standalone sales and faster deployment while also bringing its pricing and forecasting capabilities to a wider global customer base. Factor currently serves customers in Australia and the United Kingdom and has partnerships with Salesforce and AWS.

The acquisition comes as energy retailers face increasing pressure to respond to volatile market conditions, changing customer demand, and more complex pricing models. For Gentrack, the deal expands its ability to support utilities with AI-driven pricing tools built for commercial and industrial energy markets.
