Google Adds More Demand Gen Ad Features Across YouTube and Maps

Google has rolled out new Demand Gen ad features across YouTube, Gmail and Google Maps, giving advertisers more ways to move shoppers from discovery to action.

The updates include AI-powered product assistance on YouTube, one-click image ads on YouTube Shorts and Gmail, and affiliate location extensions in Google Maps.

Demand Gen Moves Closer to Purchase

On YouTube, Google is adding AI assistance alongside product feeds in-stream. Viewers will be able to ask questions about products without leaving video playback, creating a more interactive shopping experience.

Google is also introducing one-click experiences for image ads on YouTube Shorts and Gmail. On Shorts, advertisers can use 9:16 full-bleed image ads to create a faster path from discovery to response.

For Gmail, Google said advertisers that add Gmail to Demand Gen campaigns see image creatives deliver a 40% increase in conversions at the same return on investment.

The Maps update adds affiliate location extensions, allowing advertisers to promote nearby locations directly in the map experience.

Together, the updates show Google’s continued push to make Demand Gen a stronger full-funnel format across visual and intent-rich surfaces.

For advertisers, the opportunity is greater reach across discovery moments. The watchout is creative quality. Campaigns will need strong product feeds, vertical assets, clear offers and accurate location data to make these new placements work effectively.
