AMD Advances AI Data Centre, Network and Robotics Strategy

AMD has outlined new hardware and software developments designed to support the next phase of AI infrastructure, enterprise computing and physical AI.

At its Advancing AI event, CEO Dr Lisa Su and AMD executives highlighted products spanning data centre GPUs, CPUs, networking and developer software.

Focus on Open AI Infrastructure

The portfolio includes AMD Instinct MI400 series GPUs, 6th-generation EPYC “Venice” CPUs, Pensando networking technology and ROCm software.

AMD is positioning the updates around an open ecosystem approach as AI workloads become larger, more distributed and more inference-heavy.

Su said AI is one of the most important technologies of the past 50 years, with compute demand rising sharply as agentic AI systems complete more multi-step tasks.

The company also pointed to the growing role of inference, where AI systems respond to user requests and execute tasks after training is complete.

AMD said its latest platforms are designed to support AI data centres, telecom networks and robotics applications, where high-performance compute, efficient networking and software flexibility are becoming critical.

The announcements reflect AMD’s push to compete more directly in AI infrastructure as customers look for alternatives and complements to existing GPU-based systems.
